TV in the Workplace

We all know the workplace is frighteningly similar to taking part in a live action Dilbert strip, but does anyone else work with people who look like cartoons or characters from TV shows? I run into people like this in my office on a daily basis.

I most often encounter Dr. Zoidberg from Futurama. I mean, what else am I going to think of when I encounter a completely bald dude with a ferocious mustache? It's all I can do to keep from stumbling out of the elevator with my hands raised high above my head making a *clop* *clop* *clop* motion and mumbling "whooop whooop whoop whoop!" I have never had occasion to work directly with this hybrid creature of the sea, which is probably good because I don't have that much self restraint when it comes to making weird noises and gestures, especially when they can be combined with obscure references.

Periodically I collaborate with Buster Bluth from Arrested Development. This one is really hard to keep to myself because my Buster looks like, sounds like, and shares mannerisms with the real deal. Thankfully, he's not entirely inept as one might assume watching Buster's blunders on TV. I hope he doesn't have an unnatural attachment to his Mom, but that really falls outside the scope of our working relationship.

My last example is probably the least well known, and also the easiest to refrain from sharing with others or simply bursting out in random laughter upon sighting. There is a frequent visitor from another group who I rarely work directly with, so I generally just hear this person over my cube wall rather than see them. However, there is quite a resemblance, and I swear this person sounds exactly like Keegan Gerhard of Food Network Challenge. While it's more likely this person would be issuing me a challenge to produce a report within 60 minutes rather than a Finding Nemo themed cake with minimum height of 3 ft in 7 hours, I still laugh to myself every time I hear the voice.

Ahh, the little things! They really get me through the day... Anyone at your work look / act / sound like a TV character or cartoon?

Best water conservation strategy ever!

I saw this ad on Discovery today while watching excessive amounts of "Man vs. Wild" and thought it was pretty funny. Seeing Ludacris do something serious always makes me laugh because of the way he speaks with such grandeur, and random lines from his songs will pop into my head:

"Now to infinity, grown women be feelin' me
And they ain't got nothin' to lose but they virginity
Still the Lova Lova, so give me a couple rubbers
I'll get 'em in a room, and Luda will make 'em stutter like..."

Oh yeah, excellent water saving advice. Luda!
